Further closures between Blairgowrie and Alyth for essential repairs

The A926 from Blairgowrie to Alyth road will be closed between Pictfield and the Half Way House junction for six weeks to allow for essential repairs.

The road will be shut from Monday, 17th February for essential repairs by Scottish Gas Networks. The road was temporarily closed last week for an emergency repair to the gas main.

A spokesperson for Perth & Kinross Council added: "Further investigation has revealed that an entire 600-metre length of the gas main needs to be replaced."

“Due to its location in the middle of the road, it would be dangerous to operate a contraflow system while engineers are working."

“We appreciate the inconvenience this will cause for many motorists but these works by Scottish Gas Networks are vital for ensuring the safety and reliability of the gas supply."

The official diversion is a 34-mile route, through Alyth, Meigle, Coupar Angus and Blairgowrie.

Changes to local bus services have now been confirmed as follows...

  • The 57 and 57A Stagecoach service will not run between Alyth and Rattray. Passengers from New Alyth and Alyth will be able to use a shuttle bus service to link to the 57 and 57A.
  • School transport will be confirmed by the Council, who will be liasing with schools, operators and families affected by the closure to put in revised arrangements.

For further information on the shuttle service, please contact Stagecoach on 01250 872772.
